Visiting Angels Raises Funds for and Awareness of Alzheimer’s

Visiting Angels, a homecare provider for seniors in Temple Terrace, FL, participates in Walk to End Alzheimer's.

Visiting Angels, America’s premier non-medical senior homecare provider, recently announced it will be participating in and raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in Tampa, FL. The event takes place on Saturday, November 5, at 9 a.m. (registration at 8 a.m.) at Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive in Tampa.

“Visiting Angels is honored to support the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in Tampa as a Tampa Angel,” said Christal Becton, director/owner of Visiting Angels Temple Terrace. “Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness of and funds for Alzheimer’s Association care, support and research programs.”

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than a walk, as the inspiring event calls on participants of all ages to reclaim the future for millions. In addition to the 2-mile or 5k walk, participants will learn about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities and clinical studies to support programs and services.

“Our Tampa Angel participants are proud to support Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the Alzheimer’s Association of Florida,” said Becton. “The Alzheimer’s Association continues to provide valuable support services to individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, while also supporting critically needed research. We are aware of the dramatic impact Alzheimer’s has on individuals, families and companies, so we are committed to supporting the Alzheimer’s Association.”

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. In the United States alone, more than 5 million people are living with the disease. As Baby Boomers get older, those numbers will rise dramatically. By 2050, as many as 16 million people will have Alzheimer’s. “The dedication of Visiting Angels helps fuel the Association’s care, support and research initiatives and is crucial to increasing Alzheimer’s awareness in communities nationwide,” concluded Becton.
