Volunteers Needed To Help Paint Bike Lane On Bullard Bridge
The temporary bike lane on the Bullard Parkway bridge is a part of the MPO's Vision Zero Action Plan.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL – A bike lane is coming to the Bullard Parkway bridge – if only temporarily.
The bike lane painting will take place when the Hillsborough Metropolitan Planning Organization hosts its third workshop for its Vision Zero Action Plan on Tuesday, April 25 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church, 420 Bullard Parkway.
A Vision Zero policy establishes a goal of reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries to zero, typically by a target date. In Hillsborough County, a Vision Zero goal was adopted by the Temple Terrace City Council, the Tampa City Council, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and the School Board of Hillsborough County.

Vision Zero Coalition members, as well as Temple Terrace and Hillsborough County governments, are partnering in this event to explore better walk/bike connections to downtown Temple Terrace using a county bridge.
During the Temple Terrace workshop, county commissioners, city councilmen, law enforcement officials, business leaders and executive directors will demonstrate how low-cost engineering treatments can improve the awareness and safety of cyclists. For the Bullard Parkway bridge, this means painting green bicycle lanes.

The event will begin with a coffee social and networking. Then volunteers are needed for the painting of the bike lane on the Bullard Parkway bridge from 9 to 10 a.m. Then, from 10 to 11, the group will draft and review an action plan and take feedback.
The Vision Zero method of road safety began in Sweden in 1997. The core belief of the Vision Zero movement is death and injury on city streets are preventable – the result of poor behaviors combined with poor roadway designs.
