WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (July 7, 2021) –West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) Deputy Chief Rick Morris was recently honored as the Florida Police Chiefs Association’s (FPCA) Outstanding Command Officer of the year. Deputy Chief Morris was recognized for his outstanding leadership and ongoing commitment to the West Palm Beach community amid civil unrest and the COVID-19 health crisis. He was nominated by Chief Frank Adderley.

During the early stages of the health crisis, Deputy Chief Morris quickly recognized the need for a new way to protect the 400 sworn and civilian WPBPD officers under his leadership. In response, he developed new safety protocols and relationships with local healthcare providers to protect the well-being of his employees.
