The City of West Palm Beach is fortunate to have reliable access to safe water when customers turn on the tap. The City’s Ultra-Violet treatment system is part of the overall disinfection process that includes conventional filtration and chemical disinfection to ensure the production of safe drinking water. To ensure regulatory standards for water quality are met, West Palm Beach tests the water at the Water Treatment Plant 12 times per day and publishes an annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) detailing its water quality. Reports for the previous year are released after a review that may last up to six months.
“With our water treatment process, including the UV treatment system activated in 2019, we have one of the most advanced water systems in the country,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “This additional barrier helps ensure the safe production of our drinking water and is designed to treat up to 50 million gallons of our award-winning drinking water every day.”
“We supply drinking water to more than 120,000 customers in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach and South Palm Beach,” said Dr. Poonam Kalkat, Director of Public Utilities. “We’re proud to have been awarded ‘best tasting drinking water’ by the Florida division of the American Water Works Association.”
