G-Star School Grad Wins 1st Prize in Hollywood Film Competition

Lauryn Eisenstein, a 2015 graduate of G-Star School of the Arts in Palm Springs, was the winner of the 1st Place Selection for her film “One Fourth Gone” at the CCH Film Festival, which honored creative projects by students and alumni of Columbia College Hollywood in Los Angeles, CA. Eisenstein produced the film, which she describes as “a original modern musical about how the incredible power of music can lift the frustrations of OCD.”

“It was an honor to work with the film’s writer and director Andy Arthur Smith and our very talented cast and crew,” says Eisenstein, who has posted “One Fourth Gone” on Vimeo and YouTube. “We all put a lot of hard work into ‘One Fourth Gone’ and it paid off. I’m very proud to have had the opportunity to produce a wonderful film with such incredible people.”

Eisenstein grew up in New York, NY. As a child, her interest in the visual arts was kindled when she learned about narrative filmmaking techniques by studying her family’s legacy as immigrants from the Soviet Union. Notable directors who influenced her creative journey as she entered her teen years were Woody Allen, Nora Ephron, Clint Eastwood, and Greta Gerwig, and her favorite films included “Funny Girl”, “E.T”, “Harold and Maude”, and “Cinema Paradiso”.

Following her graduation from G-Star School of the Arts, Eisenstein began her college studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Once she completed her freshman year, she decided to transfer to a college in Los Angeles with a top tier film program, and she looked at Chapman University, UCLA, and USC. After learning about Columbia College Hollywood from a friend, Eisenstein researched the school’s curriculum and facilities and was hooked. She enrolled in the school’s screenwriting program in 2016.

“My experience at CCH has been nothing short of great,” says Eisenstein, who will be graduating in June ‘19 with a B.F.A. in Screenwriting. “The school’s excellent faculty has opened my eyes to see my full potential as a storyteller and artist. They’ve taught me so much about the art of telling a story that’s powerful, entertaining, and unique.”

Eisenstein plans to stay in Los Angeles after her graduation from Columbia College Hollywood. She’ll be seeking opportunities as a writer for film and television production companies, as well as writing her own original feature film screenplays and TV projects.
