Sari Center Ramps Up Care for Cancer Patients and Survivors

COVID Didn't Cancel Cancer and Sari Center Answers the Call for More Care and Treatment

West Palm Beach, FL—With a healthy handful of hope, Sari Asher Center for Integrative Cancer Care (Sari Center) announces an ambitious and necessary matching campaign this week, in time to honor mothers, or any special person, in your life. Beginning Thursday, April 15, 2021, Sari Center is on a mission to raise $30K in 30 Days. This unique campaign in alignment with the month surrounding Mother’s Day is Sari Center’s way to broadcast a dual message: that cancer did not stop for the pandemic, and that it is time we all take a moment to honor the caring and maternal women in our lives, in a meaningful way. Remarkably, a generous supporter and Sari Center patient, is challenging the community and will match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $30,000 with the ultimate goal to raise $60,000 for the organization’s vital mission.

Although the donor wishes to remain anonymous, she provided this statement, “Like most, I do not have unlimited resources - hence this challenge. With your much needed help, the funds I commit will be doubled! Join me in my goal to help as many current and future cancer patients as possible to receive Sari Center treatment and services. Please honor a person in your life who you love with a gift to Sari Center. Collectively we can do so much more to support the Center with its mission. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude. Love and blessings to all of you!”

The COVID-19 pandemic did not eradicate cancer diagnoses among the residents in South Florida, in fact, many people are behind on their screenings as regular check-ups took a back seat. According to a recent article published in Scientific American, “Many experts agree that the pandemic’s impact on cancer diagnoses, treatment and patient health will be felt for years to come. The delays will likely have a disproportionate effect on underserved communities, including Black, Native American and Hispanic people who are already bearing the brunt of COVID.”

What makes Sari Center such an essential resource for Palm Beach and surrounding counties is that their service model is set up on a sliding-fee scale, meaning persons who are under resourced and economically challenged are still able to afford specialized holistic treatments such as counseling, acupuncture and lymphedema therapy, nutrition counseling, navigation support, and yoga classes. “Sari Center will answer the call and provide more care and treatment for their ever-growing list of patients and families. In order to deliver supportive services to all who need it and to all of the new patients on our referral list,” Corinne Lemal Danielson stated, “We were in need of creating a new fundraising strategy to temporarily replace our golf tournament and 5K trail run which had to be postponed or canceled last year and created a significant negative effect on 2020’s budget. We are so grateful to have one of our patients step up and help us raise the money we need to keep treating all of our patients and caregivers. As we keep saying, cancer didn’t stop for COVID, and neither will we!”
