Sari Center Refuses to Cancel Care
Cancer doesn't get canceled, so the team at Sari Center will continue to provide services to patients in South Florida.

West Palm Beach, FL—With so many cancelations during this pandemic, one thing stayed on track in south Florida, the care and dedication of the practitioners at Sari Center who support persons with cancer. Cancer doesn’t get canceled and so the team at Sari quickly put a plan into place where they were able to work with patients through video conferencing visits.
Covid-19 rocked many worlds, but imagine what it would be like if you or a loved one is also battling cancer, and suddenly the place where you experience amity, caring, and hope has to close in order to follow CDC guidelines. “This closure is difficult on all of us,” stated Corinne Danielson, Sari Center’s Executive Director. “We all miss seeing the patients and providing one-on-one, in-person support. But it is a new world, and we will adapt in order to be there for everyone who needs our services.”
The Sari Center is named after Sari Asher, an extraordinary woman with a remarkable spirit for life, who fought multiple myeloma with grace and courage. Sari sought integrative approaches to complement her standard medical treatments. This allowed her to live years longer with high dose steroid treatment. Her doctors and family believe it added to the quantity and quality of her life. Integrative therapies are being used in cancer centers throughout the country to optimize healing. Sari Center practitioner provide these therapies for the local cancer community.

Located in Palm Beach Gardens, Sari Center provides workshops, holistic therapies such as acupuncture, massage, nutritional counseling, yoga classes, and stress reduction through a mindful living instructor. Patients pay for these services on a sliding scale fee system so every cancer patient is welcome, not just those with health insurance or the economic ability to pay. It’s not just the therapies that make Sari Center extraordinary, it’s an excellent team of altruistic, caring professionals who show up every day to support the mind, body, and spirit of patients with cancer.
A recent patient posted this testimonial, “You are running a ‘center for miracles’, as I like to call it and for that, I commend you and all the people that have made this Center possible. There are times we go through life not realizing the impact that we have on people but let me tell you that every single person at the Sari Center makes a difference and I hold them in my heart with high regard.”

Because of his history and involvement in the martial arts, another patient stated, “Sari’s holistic approach makes sense to me. I feel like the relaxation and centeredness I get from Jodi’s treatments are the reason I experienced so few side effects from my chemo and radiation. I am really looking forward to the day Sari Center can continue all my treatments!”
The 5K Trail Run fundraiser that typically raises half of the funds needed to support the affordable pay scale at Sari needed to be postponed to a later date in 2020, causing financial hardship for the organization. “We’ve been writing grants every week and working with a local foundation to map out a plan. We still need to find a way to replace our income from fundraisers, but we are a caring community and we’ll continue to serve as long as we can,” said Ms. Danielson.
A gradual re-opening is underway at Sari Center and soon they will be providing all services again, albeit with additional safety and sanitation procedures.
