West Palm Beach Fire Department Upgrades Fleet
Four new engines will replace older vehicles.
June 8, 2021
The City of West Palm Beach Fire Department has upgraded its fleet with the addition of four new pumper fire apparatuses. The pumpers are designed to respond to emergency incidents and can carry fire hoses, fire equipment, medical equipment, and 750 gallons of water for fire extinguishment. Fire assessment fees made possible the purchase of these vehicles. These new engines will replace much older engines that are currently being used as “front line” apparatuses.

“We are pleased to be able to upgrade and replace our fire department’s equipment,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “These four new engines will enhance both the safety of our city and the firefighting capabilities of our fire personnel as they protect our city.”
One pumper each will be assigned to Fire Station #1 at 500 N. Dixie Hwy., Fire Station #3 at 5050 Broadway Ave., Fire Station #4 at 1718 Parker Ave., and Fire Station #7 at 8007 Okeechobee Blvd.

“These cutting-edge pumpers have an improved turning radius to help firefighters navigate the City’s narrow streets and roundabouts,” said West Palm Beach Fire Department Chief Diana Matty. “They are equipped with state-of-the-art sirens, a vibrating horn called a Rumbler and LED lights to enhance the public’s awareness of an approaching apparatus.”
Opportunities will be announced for the public to come see their new fire trucks in the neighborhoods in which they will be put into service.
The West Palm Beach Fire Department works to reduce the level of risk to life, property and the environment faced by the community through fire suppression, emergency response, emergency medical transportation, fire inspection, public education, and community outreach.
