1 Gaither Student Killed During Home Invasion, Another Critical
One teen died and the other is in critical condition.
WESTCHASE, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said two teens were shot during a home invasion Saturday night. One teen died and the other is in critical condition.
The shooting took place at the Seasons at Westchase apartment complex in the 12000 block of Citrus Falls Circle around 7:30 p.m.
A man and his fiancé told deputies that two teens broke through the screen on their back patio and entered the home through an unlocked door.

One teen, armed with a gun, made demands. The resident of the apartment grabbed his own legally registered gun and shot both teens.
When deputies arrived, they stopped a vehicle at the entrance of the apartment complex, and after talking to the driver and passenger, determined the two were likely involved in the home invasion as well.

The other two teens were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where one of them died.
All four teens are ages 16 and 17 and are students at Gaither High School.
Detectives believe the couple living in the apartment were targeted.
