Claymation Summer Art Camp July 24 - 28 Westchase Tampa

Clay animation or claymation, sometimes plasticine animation, is one of form of stop motion animation. Each animated piece, either character or background, is "deformable", usually plasticine clay. The animation itself is produced by recording each frame, or still picture, on film or digital media and then playing the recorded frames back in rapid succession. Famous claymation movies are Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit, Caroline and The Nightmare before Christmas.

Vanessa's Art Studio, located in Westchase Tampa, is now offering two claymation summer camps for kids. The first one, Intro To Staging a Claymation, will take place from July 24 to July 28 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. The summer camp will give the opportunity to kids to learn how to create their own claymation. Students will learn to sculpt simple characters out of clay, build and light a set, and create armatures. Classes will prepare student to begin animating with clay. The second class, Intro To Creating A Clay Animation, will take place from at Vanessa's Art Studio from July 31 - August 4th Afternoon Sessions 2:00pm to 3:30pm. In this class, students will explore the principles of stop-motion animation using clay, learn to execute basic claymation techniques using morphing and replacement characters, and apply these techniques in an original claymation project. Classes will assist students in the animation process. Both classes will taught by Austin and Ms. Vanessa, both local Westchase artists.
