Residents Invited to Learn about Mental Wellness at Tampa Events
NAMI Hillsborough leaders will discuss mental health resources at two free events during Mental Health Awareness Week (Oct. 6-12).

NAMI Hillsborough, Inc. is inviting the community to join them for two free events in Tampa, on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11. The events are being held to educate Tampa Bay residents about the importance of mental wellness during National Mental Health Awareness Week (October. 6-12).
NAMI Hillsborough, Inc. is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Hillsborough offers free programs, advocacy, outreach and resources to increase the quality of life for those affected by mental illness, their families and our community. NAMI also works to end the stigma surrounding mental illness.
NAMI Hillsborough, Inc. board members and other community leaders will be meeting with community members and discussing “Why Care?” at Blind Tiger in Westshore Plaza and the Portico in downtown Tampa. “Why Care?” is the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week, The campaign invites community members to share stories about why they care for others, and what it means to have access to mental health care.

NAMI leaders also will discuss the upcoming Strides for Mental Health Awareness Run/Walk fundraiser at the University of South Florida on Nov. 16, 2019.
