Acworth Man Drowns Trying To Save Daughter In Gulf Of Mexico

ACWORTH, GA -- An Acworth man has died after he dove into the sea trying to save two girls in the Gulf of Mexico, Patch has learned.
James Forsythe, 49, never made it back to shore after entering the water about 11:30 a.m. to rescue his daughter and another girl, who were having a difficult time in the rough surf, according to news reports.
The incident occurred Tuesday in an area near Scenic Highway 98 in Destin, Florida.

Forsythe was found floating face down in the water, according to WEAR-TV, which citing that rip tides were reported in the area during the day.
Forsythe's body was taken to a hospital in Destin where he was pronounced dead, according to WGCL-TV.
