ACWORTH CELEBRATES THE LEGACY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. WITH UNITY WALK & CEREMONYOn Monday, January 18, 2021, the City of Acworth held its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Celebration. Despite brisk January weather, many in the community participated in a Unity Walk lead by our Acworth Achievers. The Unity Walk was followed by a ceremony featuring speaker Earnest Davis and readings from Acworth Achievers Lisa Thiongo and Ben Nganga that explored "life's most persistent and urgent question, 'What are you doing for others?'"To read more about this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations, we encourage you to read this article from the Marietta Daily Journal by clicking here.
ARBOR DAY POSTER CONTEST
Join Acworth as we celebrate our trees! This year, we invite our entire community to participate in our annual Arbor Day Poster Contest! Artists of all ages and experience are welcome! This year's theme is "Bring Your Favorite Tree to Life!"Submissions are due to the Acworth Community Center by February 5. DOYAL HILL PARK NOW OPENDoyal Hill Park is now open! Located adjacent to the Rosenwald School and Acworth Community Center, this park serves as an outdoor interpretive history area featuring public art honoring Acworth's rich African American History. The park contains a sculpture by Ron Huffman, interpretative historical signage, and a plaza.
COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS PART 3: MINORITY, WOMEN, AND VETERAN OWNED BUSINESS SEMINAROn November 12, 2020, the City of Acworth partnered with the Acworth Business Association, the Georgia Small Business Development Center, and Earnest Davis with E3 consulting to host part three in a community conversation series, a Minority, Women, and Veteran Owned Business Seminar. This program was designed to help businesses understand certifications, national organizations, the benefits, and how to market to an audience that is looking to purchase goods and services from them.To view a recording and find further resources from this presentation, please click here.
