Starting Monday, December 21, all Cobb County Public Library locations will be closed to the public until further notice due to the surge of the coronavirus in the community, Cobb County officials announced Friday.

As Cobb library facilities are closed, public access to a range of library services will continue to be available, including curbside service for library patrons to pick up reserved items at 11 Cobb libraries.

Seven Cobb libraries have been open since early July while also offering curbside service hours. Curbside service will continue at the seven locations – East Cobb, Mountain View Regional, North Cobb Regional, Sewell Mill, South Cobb Regional, Vinings, and West Cobb Regional, officials said. Curbside service hours are also available at the Kemp, Powder Springs, Sibley and Stratton libraries.

The Cobb library curbside services hours are Mondays, 10 am to 7:45 pm; Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 am to 5:45 pm.

The same 11 libraries will provide telephone reference services during the curbside service hours. Call-in reference services for the Lewis A. Ray and Sweetwater Valley libraries will be answered Mondays-Fridays, 10 am to 5 pm.

All outdoor Cobb library book return boxes will remain open, with the exception of Switzer Library as the facility in downtown Marietta is under renovation.

In addition to offering curbside service at Cobb libraries, Cobb library online digital resources – eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines, streaming videos, databases and more – are offered through www.cobbcat.org.

Information about reference questions from the public is also provided through the library’s virtual reference service, Ask-a-Librarian, at www.cobbcat.org/ask-a-librarian.
