Gym, Resource Center Set for Glade Road in Bartow

The county is focusing attention and resources to the Acworth area in the southern Bartow.

Bartow is focusing its attention on the southern Acworth area of the county.

Sole Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor this week okayed two measures aimed at providing more resources to the residents of the Glade Road area, County Clerk Kathy Gill confirmed.

Taylor approved agreements with Carter, Watkins Architects Associates Inc. for architectural services related to the construction of:

  • A County Resource Center and
  • A gymnasium/recreational facility, both on Glade Road.
Gill said the county is in the process of purchasing 6 acres of land on Glade Road and will build a gym, both of which will be funded by Special Local Option Sales Tax dollars approved by voters. The facility also would include a trash compactor, reports The Daily Tribune News.

A $500,000 Community Development Block Grant will fund the County Resource Center officials are calling the Allatoona-Glade Road facility.
