Man Gets 8 Years For Shooting Friend Over Rent In Acworth

BREAKING: Cobb County prosecutors say Dreson Tuberville, 23, shot roommate in leg during a March 2016 altercation.

SOUTH COBB, GA -- A man who shot his friend during an argument over rent was sentenced to eight years behind bars, the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office announced recently.

Dreson Tuberville, 23, was staying with the friend in an apartment on Baker Grove Road in Acworth when the March 2016 incident occurred.

Cobb prosecutors said during a heated discussion over rent money the man hit Tuberville in the head with a candle then left the apartment -- but the fight wasn't over. Tuberville went outside and got his 9mm pistol, then he waited patiently outside the apartment, the DA said.

"He was angry, he was fuming. He wanted to show the victim who was boss. He knew the victim would have to come back — it was his home shot the man when he was leaning in to hug him to apologize," Assistant DA Lindsay Gardner was quoted as saying.

During Tuberville's trial, which began Thursday, Cobb Superior Judge Reuben Green ordered the defendant to serve 17 years of probation after he gets out of prison.
