Officer Shoots Driver During Traffic Stop: Report
Driver shot in the chest after allegedly pulling a gun on a police officer in Acworth, according to media reports.
ACWORTH, GA — A 24-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in the chest by a Cobb County officer during a traffic stop Friday night, according to media reports.
The man, whose name has not been released, was reportedly stopped after 11 p.m. on Ga. 92 near Interstate 75, according to the AJC.
“During the investigation, the driver … refused to comply with officers’ commands and produced a handgun,” Acworth Police Capt. Mark Cheatham said in a statement to the paper.

The man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition, according to 11Alive.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will investigate the shooting.
