One Person Dead in Hiram Acworth Highway Crash

ACWORTH, GA -- A two-car collision on Hiram Acworth Highway early Thursday morning left one person dead and another hospitalized.

According to investigators, a gold 1998 GMC Sonoma was traveling north on Hiram Acworth Highway, and a black 2015 Chevrolet Impala was traveling south on Hiram Acworth Highway. The Chevrolet Impala entered into the northbound lanes of travel while continuing to travel southbound, where the Impala and the Sonoma collided.

The driver of the GMC Sonoma has been identified Mckinley Lewis, 41, of Douglasville. He was pronounced deceased on scene as a result of the collision.

One occupant of the Impala has been identified and was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. At this time, the occupant’s identification is being withheld, as the investigation is ongoing.
