Schoen Insulation Services Builds Habitat Home in Acworth

Habitat North Central Georgia partners with Schoen Insulation Services to build home

It was a beautiful day to start construction on a home in Acworth for the Scheitlin family. The home will be located on Kemp Drive and Habitat plans to build four homes on this street over the next year.

The home is being sponsored by Schoen Insulation Services and the employees came out in force on Saturday to help begin construction. This is the 11th Habitat home that Stephen Schoen, President and owner of SIS, has sponsored over the year. Schoen Insulation Services, founded in 1989 and located in Canton, is the national leader in the manufacturing of non-metallic machined parts. Stephen Schoen is active in the local community and a major supporter of Habitat North Central Georgia where he served on the Board of Directors for many years.

Habitat North Central Georgia is also grateful to the Lutheran Coalition for their support as the land sponsor for this home. The Lutheran Coalition includes twelve local churches who have supported 20 Habitat builds over the years.

Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent homes for purchase by low- to moderate-income families who demonstrate a capacity for responsible homeownership. Since its inception in 1995, Habitat-NCG has completed 289 homes serving over 1075 family members in North Fulton, Cherokee and Forsyth/Dawson counties. Each family is required to attend six educational classes and perform 200-300 sweat equity hours. Families earn between 30% and 60% of the Atlanta area median income and purchase their homes from Habitat which provides them with a 30-year, no-interest loan. Family members work side by side with the volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff to build their homes. These families not only get to experience the pride of homeownership but they also know that their lives will be changed forever. In addition to new home construction, Habitat North Central Georgia started a home repair program in 2014. To date, 27 repair projects have been completed serving veterans and seniors.
