2020 GHSA Region 5 Class 7A All-Region Cross-Country Team Named
Accolades for the Top-High School Runners in North Fulton & Cherokee Counties

Today, the coaches of the teams in Class 7A, Region 5 announced their All-Region team based on regular season & post season results from the 2020 Cross Country season. The high schools included are Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell from Fulton County & Cherokee, Etowah & Woodstock from Cherokee County.
GIRLS
The Lady Eagles of Etowah garnered the most awards after their successful season in 2020. Etowah was the Cherokee County champions, the region champions and was the top-finishing team at the state meet in 7th besting 25 scoring schools. The individual runner of the year is junior Makenna Calbert also of Etowah. Calbert was 2nd at the Cherokee County championships, was region champion & was 7th at the state meet. Her 18:26 performance at the Coach Wood meet during the season was the best time recorded in the region in 2020. The freshman of the year is Abbie Kallbreier also of Etowah. Her 4th place finish at the region meet led all freshman and then was 45th at the state meet. The first-team region awards include both Calbert & Kallbreier along with sophomore Lexie Pavese & junior Lily Cincola of Cherokee and senior Melanie Tribick, junior Lynley Blocker & junior Tara Goff of Roswell.

BOYS
The Milton boys team earned Team of the Year for 2020 after a very dominant season. The Eagles won at the Apple Hawkins Invite, were the region champions and finished 5th at the state meet to lead the region teams and best 27 scoring programs. Senior Hayden Marshall of Milton was awarded region runner of the year. His top-performances included an overall win at Apple Hawkins, the region title, and a 3rd place finish at the state meet. He followed that with a 6th place at the GA Meet of Champions & a 15:25 performance at the RunningLane Championships for the top performance in the region. The freshman of the year is Christian Jimenez of Roswell. His 6th place finishes at Fulton County, Alexander/ASICS & at the region championships led all-freshman during the season. The boyβs first team All-Region includes Marshall of Milton along with senior teammates Jack Petkash & Connor Brunson. Jimenez is joined by Roswell junior teammate Christian Cartier on the team along with sophomore Dru Moore of Etowah & junior Joseph Mines of Woodstock.
This is the first naming of an All-Region team in many years and the coaches of the programs involved hope to carry this tradition forward and give the recognition to these deserving student-athletes.
