Alpharetta Team Gymnastics Program Suspended Due To Coronavirus

The City of Alpharetta has been advised that three individuals associated with its team gymnastics program tested positive for COVID-19.

ALPHARETTA, GA — The City of Alpharetta has been advised that three individuals associated with its team gymnastics program have tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. These individuals were asymptomatic when they entered the facility but began feeling ill and displaying symptoms either later in the day or in the days following being in the facility, the city said in a news release.

"Per our protocol, the gymnastics team program is being suspended for 14 days and the individuals who tested positive are quarantined," the city said in the release. "The parents of all participants have been notified and advised to maintain close observation of the participants and have them tested and consult their physician if symptoms of infection are observed. Also, per our protocols, the facilities and equipment used by the gymnastics team program are undergoing deep cleaning and disinfecting."

The city said it is notifying the general public out of an abundance of caution so that anyone who has visited the community center in the last four days is aware of this situation, as the gymnastics teams practice at that facility. It is noted, however, that the infected individuals were involved only with the team gymnastics program. Other programs, including the recreational gymnastics program, are not impacted.
