Alpharetta Welcomes Top Figure Skaters During 2021 Atlanta Open

The 2021 Atlanta Open will be held at The Cooler Family Skate Center in Alpharetta this weekend, bringing 400 skaters from all over the U.S.

ALPHARETTA, GA — The 2021 Atlanta Open hosted by the Atlanta Figure Skating Club will be held at The Cooler Family Skate Center through June 19. The event will draw nearly 400 skaters from all over the U.S. to compete in multiple figure skating events including solo dance, pairs skating, couples ice dance and singles in well-balanced and Excel levels starting from beginner all the way up to senior and adult levels.

This figure skating competition is called “Atlanta Open” because it is open for any domestic or foreign skater who is current member and in good standing with their federation. It is a qualifying event for the solo dance series and skaters achieve points with high scoring athletes advancing to the solo dance national final. This year’s event has garnered even wider attention as the Atlanta Figure Skating Club (as a local organizing committee) has been invited to host the 2022 U.S. Figure Skating Championship Series presented by Toyota at The Cooler in Alpharetta from Nov. 17-20.

There will be 45 experienced, high level judges to officiate the competition. Each skating event will award placements one to four, and the winners will receive a medal. The late Olympic official and Life Member Susan Johnson will be honored by rewarding an intermediate high scorer with annual Susan Johnson Award. All results will be live through online posting on the Atlanta Figure Skating Club’s website.
