MILTON, Ga. — The Birmingham Road west culvert replacement is planned for summer construction, and will cause a detour on Birmingham Road between Freemanville Road and Henderson Road.

Beginning Tuesday, May 28 through Thursday, Aug. 1, Birmingham Road will be closed for a fast-tracked road project that will require the removal of the bridge. Safety improvements will be made, installing what is referred to as a box culvert. This project will provide for a wider and safer path for motorists and area school buses. The road is projected to reopen on August 1, depending upon the weather.

This project must be completed on a tight timeline so as not to interfere with school transportation routes. Thus, the city said it was scheduled for completion this summer, starting immediately after the Memorial Day weekend. This map is clickable and details the detour while this project is completed.
