Cambridge High School Student Passes Away

Ivey Leigh Mustaki, 18, was a varsity/competitive cheerleader and was accepted into the Honors Program at Georgia Southern University.

MILTON, GA — The Cambridge High School community is mourning the loss of a student who died late last week. Friends and family on Thursday will say goodbye to Ivey Leigh Mustaki, 18, who "passed with peace" on Friday, March, 16, according to her obituary.

The funeral for Mustaki, who was a senior at Cambridge, was held at noon March 22 at Stonecreek Church. Mustaki, a resident of Milton, was a varsity and competitive cheerleader at Cambridge and had been accepted into the Honors Program at Georgia Southern University. She had dreams of pursuing a career as a nurse anesthetist and continue in the master’s program at Columbia University. She also attended Stonecreek Church, her obituary adds.

She also is survived by her grandmother, Audrey Mustaki of Cumming; grandfather, Wiley J. Waters of Jesup; aunts, Lyn (David) Sheffield of Cumming, Lori (Joe) Tate of Cumming and Carolyn (Geoffrey) Stagg; uncles, Wiley J Waters Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama, and Stuart Waters of Jesup; cousins, Catherine (Stephen) Wright and Crystal (Alex) Woodward of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Josh Tate, Jacob Tate, and Mason Sheffield, all of Cumming; and Geoffrey Stagg Jr, Laura Stagg, Julie Stagg and Michael Stagg, all of Greensboro, North Carolina; and many loving friends and relatives.

Cambridge High School football coach Craig Bennett used social media to convey his thoughts, asking God to put his "loving hands on the Mustaki family and give them a comfort that only you can."

"I pray for that family and each friend and acquaintance and all of Cambridge High School during this difficult time. God, please bring us all comfort through your love," he added.

Hopewell Middle School also shared its condolences to Cambridge students, parents, faculty and staff:

Milton High School's Athletic Director, Gary Sylvestri, also asked for the school to keep the Cambridge community "in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

"In times like this we are reminded that we are one community, one Milton and one county," he added on Thursday. "Prayers for the Cambridge community, school and all touched by this terrible tragedy. Love and prayers from Eagle Nation."
