Camp Exposes Kids To Career in Firefighting

The Alpharetta Fire Camp will be held July 25-29 at Wills Park.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Rising sixth graders will soon be able to spend an exciting week learning what it takes to be a firefighter.

The Alpharetta Fire Camp, a fun yet challenging and educational initiative, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 25-29 at Wills Park on the open field near the equestrian center.

Fire Camp is a great opportunity for Alpharetta’s firefighters to help youth build a sense of teamwork, responsibility and leadership.

Camp activities focus on fire and life safety issues, basic first aid, search and rescue and other fire service related topics. Short periods of instruction are followed by active participation exercises to reinforce lessons learned. Campers will be divided into “fire company” teams and have a chance to be “company officer” for a day.

Applications for the camp are available at Alpharetta Recreation and Parks centers, with registration available on-site during general hours of operation.

The cost for the camp is $125 for Alpharetta and Milton residents and $187.50 for non-residents.
