Contract Awarded For North Point Parkway Design

ALPHARETTA, GA — The City of Alpharetta has awarded a $2 million contract for the redesign of North Point Parkway between Mansell and Haynes Bridge roads, according to a news release.

Under the contract, Columbia Design Services will design a “typical section for the roadway that will accommodate future traffic and focus on serving transit, pedestrian, and bicycle users," the release said.

This is the next step toward implementing improvements planned under the city’s North Point Livable Centers Initiative, an effort to create and implement a new vision for the area centering on North Point Mall. The initiative is based on creating the future of the district based on four goals:

  • Create a more walkable environment based on a “park once, walk everywhere” approach emphasizing connectivity and green spaces.
  • Create multimodal connections parallel to North Point Parkway.
  • Induce redevelopment of large areas of underutilized surface parking.
  • Improve the district’s retail balance.
