Fill The Boot Drive Raises Nearly $80,000 In Milton
Beginning in April, Milton firefighters collected at key Milton intersections every other Friday through late May.

From the City of Milton: The Milton Fire-Rescue Department recently concluded its annual Fill the Boot fundraising drive in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Milton Fire Chief Robert Edgar and members of the Milton Fire-Rescue Department formerly presented the donation to MDA officials during the June 5, 2017 City Council Meeting.
Beginning in April, Milton firefighters collected at key Milton intersections every other Friday through late May. With only six collection days total, Milton residents helped raise $79,347.26 to help in the fight against muscular dystrophy.
"This year marks our 10-year partnership with MDA, we've been doing this since our first year of operation," said Edgar. "The generosity of our Milton residents has helped raise more than $639,000 over the last 10 years."

According to Milton fire officials, total collections have steadily increased year-over-year with this year's donations up by two percent from last year's total.
The Milton Fire-Rescue Department was once again ranked number one in the metro Atlanta area and highest per capita by the Muscular Dystrophy Association for boot drive collections.

Here's what MDA Fundraising Coordinator Samantha Shida had to say about the partnership with Milton Fire-Rescue.
"Each year, Milton firefighters dedicate countless hours of their time participating in Fill the Boot drives and at MDA Summer Camp. We're grateful for their steadfast drive and uncommon caring toward the kids and adults we serve. The Milton Fire Department's dedication continuously puts them as the highest raising Fill the Boot partner in Greater Atlanta. We are grateful for the leadership of Chief Edgar and Battalion Chief Elliott and for the entire Milton Fire Department for everything that they do for MDA and the local families we serve."
