Ga. 140 Reopens In Milton Following Gas Leak (UPDATED)
The closure was put in place between Lackey Road and the Cherokee County line due to a gas leak.

UPDATE at 9:42 a.m. Aug. 30: The city of Milton said crews have capped the line, and Arnold Mill Road/Ga. 140 has reopened to traffic.

MILTON, GA — A segment of Ga. 140 is closed in Milton as crews are working to cap a gas leak in the area, an emergency that's sure to slow down the Thursday morning commute of residents driving from Cherokee County.

The closure of the highway, also known as Arnold Mill Road, is between the area of Lackey Road and the Little River Bridge at the Cherokee County line and is due to a leak in a non-residential line, the city of Milton said Thursday morning.
The gas company is on site doing repairs, and the estimated time of completion is "several hours," the city notes on its Facebook page. The Milton Fire-Rescue Department is on the scene, and the Fulton County School System's Transportation Department has been notified.

Homeowners in the area should note they may smell an odor while repairs are underway. Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice, and find an alternate route to get around the closure. Return to Patch for updates.
