Happy Mother’s Day From Frankie Lee

"I will always love you and be proud to be your daughter."

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Frankie Lee's letter to her mom:

Dear Mama,

Did you know that you’re my hero? Did you know that to me you’re the most perfect woman in my life? That you’re everything I honor and respect?

From the day I was born you were perfect. Your love warmed my life and filled my heart so much that I feel empty now that you’re gone.

Mother's Day was always so special. I would drive home and you would open the door with your smile brighter than the biggest star, and your hug so welcoming. I couldn't wait to get there. I always thought of you, and when I had to leave I would cry driving home worrying about you.

Now my life is empty. Saying goodbye was the hardest thing I had to do, knowing I would never drive up and see you standing at the door with that beautiful smile or waving goodbye when I had to leave.

Mother's Day is hard, because having been blessed with such a perfect mother leaves your heart empty. I know you’re with God and an angel in the sky, but just to be able to tell you how much I love you, I now look up high towards the sky.

Happy Mother's Day. I can't help but cry. I will always love you and be proud to be your daughter.

For all those who have their mother, love them, hug them and write that special letter. I would give anything for just one more moment.

β€”Frankie Lee
