Holiday Challenge for Dads

Do you really know what your child's dreams and passions are? Take time during this holiday season to find out.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

To All Dads! I challenge you during this holiday season, to carve out an additional 30 minutes for each of your children. Take this time to see them, more clearly, as if you were seeing them through God's eyes.

We all have hopes, wants, plans, and dreams for our children. But, are these God's plans or our own ambition? Each of our children has been created perfectly by God and unique to His plan, not ours. Imagine the possibilities we could be missing because we may be pushing in a different direction. Do we listen for and encourage the things said by our children that bring them pure joy? Or, have we heard the things that bring us joy?

Put work away. Let's stop being too busy. They are never too old. Take the time to play with them. Get outside. Listen to their stories. Ask them about their dreams, and above all else- be there for them when they fall but let them fall. Let them learn the lessons that come from falling. Be there to help dust off the fall but let them do the dusting. Allow them to experience the ability to problem solve and let them be who HE created them to be.

So, I encourage you to spend more time, one on one, with your children. If you are already doing something like this add some additional time. When you complete it I hope you do so again weekly and then daily. Work to know your kids through God's eyes and find an even deeper love for them, a love that transcends all understanding. #BeTheReason #ThankfulAndBlessedToBeADad
