A Love Letter To Janice

An Alpharetta man writes a Valentine's Day haiku to his wife.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Emil’s haiku to his wife, Janice:

Emil to Janice
In Haiku 5-7-5 verse
Us from then till now:

Hollywood Way Inn
In a morning kiss to him,
'Twas my heart you lit.

First joy at 18!
Sheer rainbow blouse and sunbeams
My freedom subsumed.

Your dawn visit view:
A barefoot careless cluefree,
with night wear dangling.

Then you were alone
With me and my cereal,
My heart inside out!

From my league to yours
It came to pass we criss-crossed
Streets, cities, then states.

Lust, love, and friendships
Sparks, embers and sweet nothings
Burned, blistered, but endured.

Before we linger
Longer dare we ask ourselves
“Will’t forever be?"

What secured our link?
Opportunities put off?
Laziness, or work?

A little of each
And I’d add: love's the victor
Then as here and now

"Still, I'm a rebel!"
"No, you're just an idiot."
Kiss me, hold me close.
