MILTON, GA -- The City of Milton, in partnership with the Vox Artium Foundation, is again hosting a one-day, family-friendly music festival benefiting local animal nonprofits. Join the city on Crabapple Road Saturday, April 27, from 1-10 p.m., for Rock for Rescues, Milton's annual day of music, food and fun, all in the name of helping animals.

This year's musical lineup features Atlanta-based bands including Sister Moon, a slow boat to china., Alex Guthrie, Pony League, Last Chance Riders, and event headliner WALDEN. New for 2019, the Rock U all-star kids band will open the festival.

"We worked with our community partners to expand this year's festival, both literally and figuratively," Laura Jesseph, Rock for Rescues Program Manager and Director of Vox Artium, said in a release. "We added a wildlife charity based on feedback, we extended our festival times and expanded the lineup, and Milton literally enlarged the festival footprint along Crabapple Road to grow opportunities for vendors and sponsors."

Headliner WALDEN officially kicked off the 2019 festival excitement with the release of their "puppy sessions," filmed at the new Furkids property in nearby Cumming. The video features puppies from Furkids and the band leaves a special message for viewers at the end. The video is available online.

Members of WALDEN told city officials "we love how Rock for Rescues brings together the community in the name of music to raise money for rescue animals."

Net proceeds from the event benefit five local 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organizations: AWARE Wildlife Center, Canine Cellmates, Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters, Georgia House Rabbit Society, and Milton's own Special Equestrians of Georgia.

"In just one year, Rock for Rescues has become one of our signature city events," Community Outreach and Engagement Manager Courtney Spriggs said in a release. "Partnering with Vox has been a natural extension of our community's amazing volunteer spirit and our shared love for animals, and who doesn't enjoy a spring festival filled with great local musicians."

The April 27 event is free to attend, but donations are welcomed before and during the event. Event organizers have also added reserved tables and VIP ticket options this year. Donations and event ticket sales, along with complete information on the bands and rescue groups, are available online. Donations benefit the five selected nonprofits, with net proceeds being divided equally among the groups.
