Milton Track Teams Compete at Roswell 8-Way Meet

The Eagle Track & Field teams competed at the annual Roswell HS 8-Way meet and came away with many strong & top-10 school history performances.

Two second place finishes led the Lady Eagles as Milton (8th-37 pts) competed against their toughest competition in this early season meet. In the girls triple jump, freshman Nora Megenity (2nd-29β-8.5β) bested ten competitors for the Lady Eagles to record the top individual finish at the meet and record the 10th best jump in school history. Also scoring in the event was senior Alex Rogers (7th-28β-4β). Team-wise, Miltonβs 4x800m relay team (2nd-10:50.08) composed of junior Audrey Nichols, freshman Annalise Crow, and sophomores Sydnie Behrmann & Ellie Dickenson ran to a runner-up finish along with a second scoring 4x800m relay team comprised of juniors AnneMarie Lessig, Rachel Clark, Samantha & Natalie Ventura finishing 5th (11:11.52).
BOYS
Milton (8th-44 pts) was led by one event win and three runner-up finishes and performances that landed in the top-10 best in school history! The Eagles lone victory was in the 4x800m relay. Milton (1st-8:19.87) ran to the 11th best performance in school history. Junior Jack Petkash, sophomores Davis Hobbs & Ethan Marcum & senior Spencer Watry turned back 10 other teams. In the 4x200m relay, Milton (2nd-1:33.72) besting the posted school record (1:35.76, 2012) in this seldom run event in Georgia. The event is being considered as a state meet scoring event in the near future so expect more performances from this relay. The team was comprised of sophomore Cameron Cainion & seniors Demariee Taylor, Justin Stewart & Jordan Payton and they bested 8 schools. In the pole vault, sophomore Andrew Dassler (2nd-14β) was runner up besting 20 competitors and moved to 4th best performer all-time in school history! Also finishing runners-up was the 4x1600m relay team (2nd-19:28.11) which erased a 150m deficit starting the final leg to finish within 3-seconds of the race win! Relay team members included junior Connor Brunson, freshman Cory Chambers, senior Alec Braswell and junior co-captain Hayden Marshall.
The Milton track teams next see action Friday night at Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta at the Atlanta Relays and a special high school 4x1-mile relay event on Saturday morning in connection with the US Olympic Team Trials-Marathon being held at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta.
