North Point Community Church Honored As Top Blood Donor Location

North Point Community Church is being recognized as the No. 1 blood drive location in the state after hundreds of people donated blood.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Being named the No. 1 blood drive location in the state was not part of the plan when Alpharetta-based North Point Community Church first opened its doors to the American Red Cross last March. However, 30 drives later, North Point Community Church has done just that thanks to hundreds of church attendees and other generous donors in the North Fulton and South Forsyth areas.

According to the American Red Cross, North Point Community Church, 4350 North Point Parkway, blood drives have far outpaced averages across the state. They began less than a year ago in response to the United States facing a critical blood shortage as an unprecedented number of blood drive locations closed related to COVID-19 shutdowns.

“We are always looking for ways to serve the needs of our local communities and to make it easy for people to make a difference," said Andy Stanley, founder of North Point Ministries and senior pastor of North Point Community Church. "Partnering with the American Red Cross to support blood drives has been a great way to do both.”

Reflecting on this success, Emily Clay, a spokesperson with the American Red Cross said, “I’ve never seen anything like this since my time at the Red Cross. Our average donation rate per blood dive in Georgia is about 19 pints donated and about four first-time donors. At North Point we average 70 to 80 pints donated per drive and have had a total of 760 first-time donors.”

Four other Atlanta-area North Point Ministries churches are also actively serving as American Red Cross blood drive sites. Buckhead Church in Buckhead is currently the fifth largest blood drive in the state for the American Red Cross, followed by Woodstock City Church, which is eighth. Gwinnett Church in Sugar Hill and Browns Bridge Church in Cumming both are among the top 25 locations in Georgia.
