Road Closures Needed For Mayor's Corporate Challenge

The 22nd annual Mayor's Corporate Challenge will be held Thursday, Aug. 23 in downtown Alpharetta.

ALPHARETTA, GA — The 22nd annual Mayor’s Corporate Challenge is set for Thursday, Aug. 23 at Alpharetta City Hall, and the city will have to implement a few road closures to ensure the 5K race goes as planned.

The road closures will have an impact on your evening commute through the city, so motorists are strongly encouraged to plan alternate routes to avoid heavy delays expected in the area. The closures and specific times for the event are as follows:

  • Academy Street: all lanes will be closed between Main Street/S.R. 9 and Westside Parkway from 6:45 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.
  • Haynes Bridge Road: all lanes will be closed between Old Milton Parkway and Academy Street from 6:20 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Old Milton Parkway: one of the three westbound lanes will be closed between Westside Parkway and Haynes Bridge Road from 6:50 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Park Plaza: all lanes will be closed between Academy Street and Haynes Bridge Road. Access to and from the parking deck adjacent to City Hall and the library will be via Main Street from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Westside Parkway: one of the two southwest bound lanes will be closed between Academy Street/Webb Bridge Road and Old Milton Parkway from 6:45 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.

Sponsored by LexisNexis Risk Solutions, the Mayor’s Corporate Challenge is an annual fundraiser hosted by the city and the Rotary Club of Alpharetta to raise money in support of a number of local and international projects. Money raised from the event will be donated to organizations focused on disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, peace/conflict prevention resolution, maternal and child health, as well as other causes.
