This award is presented to chapters who respond affirmatively in at least 9 of the 10 programs in the contest year. The award is presented to a chapter for meeting the goals and objectives of the Georgia Society in such programs as membership recruitment and retention, chapter reporting, Flag respect, BOM attendance, scheduling regular meetings, community involvement, and youth program activity. This yearβs winners will receive a streamer is the SAR Piedmont Chapter for 2020.
The retention of members is a vital component of building a strong Chapter and Society. To encourage a more dedicated effort to keep our members, the Georgia Society established the Georgia Society Membership Award. To qualify for this award, any chapter with more than 10 members must have a 90% renewal of its membership and submit its yearly dues to the Society Secretary by the deadline. Qualifying chapters will be recognized with a Membership Streamer. And the winner is the Piedmont Chapter for 2020.
The Silver Roger Sherman Medal may be awarded to a compatriot in recognition of, and in appreciation for, outstanding service rendered to a State Society. The medal is presented to a compatriot for significant service which lacks the requirements for the Meritorious Service Medal. It should be awarded in place of the Bronze and Silver Good Citizenship Medals, which cannot be awarded for service to the SAR. The recipient must have served as an active officer for a minimum of two years, as an active committee chairman for three years, or as an active member of a committee for four years. The winner for Silver Sherman Medal for the state of Georgia for 2020 is Frederic M. βRickβ Reese, Jr. of the SAR Piedmont Chapter.
The Silver Good Citizenship Medal, authorized in 1939, recognizes outstanding and unusual patriotic achievement and service to recognized persons of prominence in a local area. And the winner for the Silver Good Citizenship Medal for the state of Georgia for 2020 is Ronald βRonβ W. Redner of the Piedmont Chapter for his life long work in our community.
The Patriot Medal is awarded only by a state society and may be presented only to an individual. It represents long, faithful and outstanding service at the state and/or chapter level. Service at the national level is not considered in making the award. It is desirable that it be presented at the annual meeting of the state society. The Patriot Medal is the State of Georgia Top award and this years winners is Frederic M. βRickβ Reese, Jr. the Piedmont Chapter for all his support and work for GASSAR in 2020.
