Veterans Groups Hosting North Fulton Ruck March For Memorial Day
Three veterans groups will come together on May 30 to hold a 10K ruck march from Johns Creek to Alpharetta in honor of Memorial Day.
ALPHARETTA, GA — Three veterans groups will come together on Sunday, May 30 to hold a 10K ruck march from the veteran's memorial at Newtown Park in Johns Creek to American Legion Post 201 in Alpharetta.
The Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, Carry the Load, and American Legion Post 201 organized the ruck march — parlance for a walk or hike with a loaded backpack, or rucksack, typically carried out by soldiers — in honor of Memorial Day.
Twenty-five veterans have committed to participate, and organizers expect 40 to 50 marchers to join the six-plus-mile trek which will include an intermediate stop at the veteran’s memorial at city hall in downtown Alpharetta.
