Zeta Leads To Downed Trees, Power Lines In Alpharetta-Milton
Remnants of Hurricane Zeta resulted in widespread damage and power outages throughout north Georgia — including in Alpharetta and Milton.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Remnants of Hurricane Zeta resulted in widespread damage and power outages throughout north Georgia — including in Alpharetta and Milton.
Many roadways throughout Alpharetta remain blocked by fallen trees as of Thursday morning, making it challenging for city crews to clear. They had to first wait for utility companies to remove the entangled power lines.
Numerous traffic signals also malfunctioned on area roadways due to the storm throughout Alpharetta.

Many roadways throughout our area remain blocked by fallen trees. City crews cannot clear them until utility companies remove entangled power lines, so this is going to take a while. Thanks for your patience.

"In Alpharetta, our crews' ability to make repairs to signals is hampered by wind speeds that are still too high for us to safely elevate a worker in a bucket," officials said on the city's official Facebook page. "We will get our traffic signals back up and running as soon as we possibly can. For now, we need your help in driving safely."
To report fallen trees or debris on public streets, Alpharetta residents are encouraged to download and use the city's SeeClickFix app on their mobile device, or select Report, Pay, Apply on the homepage of the city's website and the select "Report an Issue."

The remnants of Zeta barreled through Milton quickly, also knocking out power to thousands. Utility companies responded almost as fast, converging on the city and others around Georgia to restore electricity.
Most of Milton is served by Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation, although residents in some parts get their electricity through Georgia Power and Cobb EMC.
For residents using generators, city officials reminded them to use them safely. Avoid setting up a generator inside a home, garage, basement or another—even partially—enclosed space. Opening doors and windows won’t stop carbon monoxide from building up. Get fresh air right away if feel sick, dizzy or weak – feelings that may sneak up on you suddenly, especially you can’t see or smell carbon monoxide.
