Animal Control Report: 63 Calls; 31 Animals Impounded, Including Groundhog

Athens-Clarke County Animal Control responded to 63 calls last week, according to its weekly media release:

• 27 reports of dogs running at large
• 12 reports of animal neglect
• 11 reports of animal bites
• 4 reports of seriously injured animals
• 3 requests for cat transport
• 2 reports of trapped animals
• 2 reports of seriously sick animals
• 1 report of a barking dog
• 1 report of an aggressive animal
• 1 citation was issued for local Animal Control ordinance violations
• 19 warnings issued

Animal Control impounded 31 animals — 13 dogs, 17 cats, 1 groundhog.

Ten dogs and 3 cats were adopted, 5 dogs reclaimed, and 2 dogs and 6 cats were turned over to shelters/rescue groups.
