Animal Control Report: 67 Animals, Including 1 Hawk, Impounded Last Week

Athens-Clarke County Animal Control responded to 44 calls last week, according to its weekly media release:

·       18 reports of dogs running at large

·       6 reports of seriously injured animals

·       5 requests for cat transport

·       5 reports of seriously sick animals

·       4 reports of animal neglect

·       3 reports of trapped animals

·       2 reports of animal bites

·       1 report of an aggressive animal

·       0 citations were issued for local Animal Control ordinance violations

·       15 warnings issued

Animal Control impounded 67 animals — 24 dogs, 35 cats, 6 opossums, 1 grey fox, 1 red-tail hawk.

Fourteen dogs and 2 cats were adopted, 8 dogs reclaimed, and 7 dogs and 17 cats were turned over to shelters/rescue groups.
