Animal Control Report: Red-Tail Boa Among Impounded Animals

Athens-Clarke County Animal Control responded to 53 calls last week, according to its weekly media release:

• 29 reports of dogs running at large
• 5 reports of animal neglect
• 4 reports of seriously injured animals
• 4 reports of trapped animals
• 4 reports of seriously sick animals
• 3 reports of animal bites
• 2 reports of barking dogs
  
• 2 requests for cat transport
• 0 citations were issued for local Animal Control ordinance violations
• 13 warnings issued

Animal Control impounded 38 animals — 20 dogs, 16 cats, one raccoon, one red-tail boa. Five dogs and 4 cats were adopted, 4 dogs reclaimed, and 7 dogs and 15 cats turned over to shelters/rescue groups.
