Casting Pearls: A Case of the Feels

A lot of preachers think that you have to preach a prosperity gospel or a "feel good" sermon in order to bring people to Jesus. But I heard a preacher preach a sermon on taking up your cross and following Christ...to embrace the suffering of Christ. And several people got saved, worship broke out, and the altar filled with people ready to make the commitment! It is the power of the cross, and the power of the Holy Spirit that draw people to God! Feel good preaching and promises of financial blessings bring people to Church...not to Christ.

People who seek "stuff" and leisure and comfort and ease...people with itching ears and no real intention on giving God true reign in their lives want "get saved quick schemes" and an ehow video on "three easy steps to salvation", but people who want to be changed and want to know Jesus and want true salvation are drawn to the cross...change is found and Jesus is found there! He is the way the truth and the life! But you must travel through suffering, because we must be cleansed of our sins in order to abide in His presence. And the only way to travel that path is through the death of your kingdom and the embracing of His.

Must Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free?
No there's a cross for everyone.
And there's a cross for me!
