Joining Philip is double bassist Luca Lombardi, violinist Serena Scibelli (Athens Tango Project, Athens Symphony Orchestra, principal), singer Avery Leigh Draut, and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Raj (Cult of Riggonia, Hot Club of Athens) on guitar, sitar, and oud. Expect fiery waves of improvisation, exotic instrumentation, moments of introspection, several world premiers of original compositions, and some very special guests.”

Claudia Gargiulo and the Athens Tango Project:
The show will feature special guest singer, Claudia Gargiulo. Argentine born singer, actress, and teacher Claudia Gargiulo is a mezzo-soprano performer known for the clarity of her voice. She sang and acted in South America and Europe, performing in festivals and theatres in Buenos Aires- Argentina , Verona, Viareggio, Bari, and Milan, Italy. In 2004, she won the first prize as best singer at the “International Tango Competition” in New York. Claudia sang with the McLean and the Pan American Symphony Orchestras and has performed at the Kennedy Center, Lisner Auditorium and collaborated with the Gala Hispanic Theatre in Washington D.C. as both a singer and actress. She now promotes Argentine tango and contemporary Latin American music in North America. She is currently resident in the Washington D.C. area where she sings and teaches voice.

Athens Tango Project is a local group committed to bringing Argentine tango music to the northern hemisphere. Laura Camacho, a veteran of the tango music scene of Buenos Aires, came to Athens, Georgia to study upright bass. She quickly found there to be a lack of tango music in the Classic City. She eventually assembled a group consisting of the vocal talents of Ricardo Hurado, piano (Fernando Deddos), percussion(John Phillips), violin(Serena Scibelli), and of course, her native bass. The result is the Athens Tango Project, a delightfully different trip to another part of the world.

Duo Grego:
Featuring Fernando Deddos (Piano, euphonium) and Pedro Alliprandini (Clarinet), Duo Grego plays a variety of Brazilian Choro music.
