Four Rushin Drive Residences Burglarized

Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating four burglaries believed to have occurred within hours of each other in Athens.

An Athens-Clarke County police officer on patrol Monday morning found an open door at a Rushin Drive residence around 8:20 a.m. The residence was cleared but no one was found inside. Officers made contact with the residents, Elizabeth Ansley Gay, Elaine Saunders, and Katlin Church, who determined that TVs, a DVD player, movie streaming device, earbuds, checks, jewelry and cash were stolen at a total value of $1,267.

Other officers discovered another burglary at a separate Rushin Drive residence belonging to Allen Blankenship. Officers said it is unknown at this time if anything was stolen, though the burglary is believed to have occurred between 6:30 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Two other Rushin Drive residences were also burglarized, according to police. The first residence, belonging to Jang Lee, Andrew David Sundin, and Bobby Mathew Kwon, was burglarized sometime prior to 9 a.m. Saturday. TVs, a monitor and a video game console were stolen at a total value of $2,700.

The second residence, belonging to Taylor Sharmetta Williams, was burglarized between 6 a.m. Dec. 21 and 8:30 p.m. Monday. A TV valued at $700 was reportedly stolen.

A potentially unrelated burglary occurred at the Woody Drive residence of Pete Johnson between 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday during which clothing valued at $30 was stolen. A suspect was named.
