How The Fighting Irish Saved This Georgia Girl
Then I found the Notre Dame and Michigan game. Ah, I had found my way from the foo-foo games.

Facebook was a ghost town this weekend. The only chatter centered on college football was a wife lamenting about having to watch the Alabama game on the bedroom television. Apparently, her husband commandeered the big screen for the Tennessee game. Even my South Carolina crew wasn’t clucking about their victory over East South Carolina. Bear was sure it would be peaceful since I was not wearing my lucky Bulldog shirt.
My plan for Saturday was to cruise the SEC games that were playing. Hungry for a good match, I felt that somewhere I missed the turn for a real meaty game and wound up at a salad bar. All of the SEC teams seemed to pick this week to play the smaller colleges. There was not a lot to get excited about. Alabama trampled Florida Atlantic with a score of 41-0. So, maybe my friend’s husband was right to veto watching the Tide’s tsunami on the big screen.
Bear was curled up on the ottoman enjoying a lazy Saturday afternoon nap. Then I found the Notre Dame and Michigan game. Now, although these two are not SEC teams, their rivalry is just as deep seated as any of ours. Ah, I had found my way from the foo-foo games. Bear’s tranquility was in danger.Â

When it comes to this match-up, our home always pulls for Notre Dame. One, it is my husband’s favorite team. Secondly, I like anyone who plays Michigan and wins. Notre Dame gave me what I had hungered for. Their shut-out of 31-0 was the first for the Irish since 1984. This game was reminiscent of another Michigan shellacking administered by a little college called Appalachian State.
Yep, Notre Dame had delivered. My football fix for the weekend was satisfied. I was positive that I would be able to survive one more week until my Dawgs take on South Carolina. Athens will be a ghost town this Saturday since everyone will be in Columbia, but I’m sure my Facebook page will be hopping. See ya’ll at three p.m. Saturday. Go Dawgs!
