It Wasn't Pretty...But It's A Win

Georgia's performance against Tennessee wasn't pretty, but the results placed our first win in the SEC column.

Saturday’s win against the Vols may not have been pretty, but it was a win. As expected, Ole Smokey came to town with a bone to bury. Drawing first blood and putting us down by ten points, the Bluetick Coonhound brought the arm of Worley and the hands of Hurd. However, the young pups of the offensive line allowed us the opportunity to multiple sacs, making Worley vulnerable in the pocket. The eventual loss of Worley, due to an elbow injury, rendered the Volls as ineffective as the cardboard clippers Smokey was using to try and trim the hedges.

While the Vols offensive line left their QB open to us, our side had its issues. Mason threw two interceptions. One play looked like a game of “no I really don’t want the ball” when we fumble and recovered the ball twice. Several times during the game, it seemed like Georgia really wanted Smokey to bury that bone in the middle of the field.

In typical fashion, the third quarter seemed like a seventh ending stretch. Bear and I both took several catnaps due to the lackluster performance on both teams. It was Gurley’s hurdling jump over a defender that had me on my feet and Bear running for cover. Gurley again proved to be the star of the show.

Wanting a sneak peek at games to come, I checked out the first quarter of the Texas A&M and Arkansas game. One thought prevailed in my mind.…these Razor Backs are HUGE! This brings concern that Georgia will encounter the same difficulties against Arkansas that they did with South Carolina. Speaking of the Gamecocks, Missouri gave us a break with their win. Next week the Commodores are coming into town. I’m dusting off all my old CDs and getting ready to listen to some of their mellow tunes….oh, wrong Commodores. Until next Saturday Dawg Fans may all of you have a great week.
