Police Seek Car Involved In Deadly Hit-And-Run
The 52-year-old woman was killed March 20 while crossing Commerce Road near Bulldog Inn in Athens.

ATHENS, GA — The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is asking the public to help them track down the vehicle believed to have fatally hit a woman while she crossed a local highway. Officers were dispatched to a call around 10 a.m. March 20 to the area of Commerce Road near Ga. 10 Loop to a person who was hit by a vehicle.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a woman, later identified as 52-year-old Kimberly Pierce, unresponsive in the road, Athens-Clarke County police said. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced Pierce dead at the scene of the collision.
The vehicle, which police say left the scene, was described by witnesses as a green 1990's Honda with tinted windows. Police note the car is believed to have front-end damage from the March 20 collision (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. Traffic investigators determined Pierce was crossing Commerce Road from the Bulldog Inn in Athens when she was hit by the car, the agency added. Investigators believe there may be other witnesses to the fatal crash and ask anyone with information to contact Sgt. Butt at 706-208-1718 ext 226.
Detectives are also working to obtain possible video surveillance from nearby businesses that could provide additional clues.
