There's no doubt about it - summer has arrived!

School is out and carefree summer days are In. From recently graduated preschoolers to your high school graduates, children of all ages anticipate a summer full of memorable fun and relaxation. Being outdoors is a big part of most summer memories, but sometimes it can be so hot that outdoor fun is cut short. Well we don’t think that has to be the case, so we’ve compiled a list of fun outdoor games that involve minimal preparation and maximum FUN! Please note – whenever a young child is around water it is essential for them to be supervised by an adult.

Grab your garden hose! – The opportunities for summer fun are endless with a garden hose. Spray an arch of water and run underneath it for a refreshing spritzer effect. You can also place the handle on the ground, with the faucet facing up for a makeshift sprinkler system! This can also turn into a creative game of limbo, using the stream of water as the limbo stick.

Fill ‘er up! – Sometimes a good old-fashioned water balloon fight is just what you need to break up the long, hot summer days. Fill up a bunch of water balloons, divide into teams and have fun soaking each other! For an even bigger event, invite all of the neighborhood kids and have the children run around through multiple yards. Remember – you are never too old for water balloons, so if you keep a few to douse your spouse or best friend, we won’t tell!

Backyard Bath time! – For your young infants or toddlers, place a blow up baby pool in the backyard and turn bath time from a regular chore to a fun event. Fill the tub with bubbles and favorite bath toys and enjoy the splashing and squeals that are sure to follow.
