3 Dead After Small Plane Crashes Near Gainesville

The single-engine Cessna 182 crashed into a ravine just after 6 p.m. Friday, according to reports.

GAINESVILLE, GA — Three people were killed Friday night when the small plane they were traveling in crashed shortly after taking off from the Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville, according to multiple reports.

The single-engine Cessna 182 crashed just after 6 p.m. about two miles northeast of the airport. Hall County Fire Services spokesman Zach Brackett told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the plane went down in a ravine just north of Memorial Park Drive.

Those killed in the crash were Dan Delnoce, 44, of Gainesville; Courtney Flanders, 45, of Gainesville; and 39-year old Matthew Delnoce of Ohio.

Four adults and a child were displaced after fuel from the plane landed on their home. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
