ATLANTA, GA — From a festive pep rally to a home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, this weekend will be a series of exciting events for Atlanta Falcons fans. Music buffs can also expect another big weekend thanks to Music Midtown, which will include performances from the likes of Cardi B and Lizzo.

If you’d prefer to start the weekend on a chill note, there’s The Art Of Turning Down, a Friday-night affair that prides itself on good vibes and good music. Here’s what else is happening around the city:


Falcons Friday Kickoff Rally

Get ready to “rise up” and root for the home team at a free kickoff pep rally for the Atlanta Falcons. The pep rally comes days before the Falcons’ home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. At the festive affair, Falcons fans can expect appearances from former Falcons players, plenty of fun giveaways and a musical performance from Bone Crusher.

The Art Of Turning Down

Neighborhood: Downtown

Created for those who have quickly tired of Atlanta’s chaotic club scene, The Art Of Turning Down is a series that is a celebration of lounge culture. Salah Ananse will serve as maestro of the event, providing a curated assortment of tunes as you converse with friends or get cozy with a first date. Best of all, The Art Of Turning Down is free to attend.

Music Midtown

Neighborhood: Midtown

This weekend will bring yet another major music festival to the city. Music Midtown, which will take place on both Saturday and Sunday, features performances from some of the biggest artists in the country. Among the acts set to perform are Cardi B, Vampire Weekend, Charlie Puth, Lizzo and Lil Yachty.

SoundBites: Atlanta Food Truck Park 2019

Neighborhood: West Midtown

Be sure to bring your appetite to SoundBites, one of the premier events taking place during Atlanta Black Restaurant Week. Described as a gathering of “the best food trucks and food vendors,” SoundBites will boast an array of bites and music from local DJs. Admission to the food truck festival is $7 (children 10 and under are free).

Harvest Moon Circle | Yoga + Ritual

Neighborhood: Old Fourth Ward

Take advantage of the upcoming full moon with a unique yoga experience with CorePower. In addition to yoga, there will also be a full moon release ritual and tea ceremony led by Kursten Hedgis. During the event, Modern Mystic Shop will make an appearance, with full moon products and crystals available for purchase.

Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade Workshop

Neighborhood: Inman Park

There’s only a handful of days before hundreds of Atlantans march down the BeltLine with their colorful lanterns in hand. If you’ve yet to start crafting your lantern, consider taking a parade workshop hosted by the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership. Attendees at this workshop will be working with white paper parasols and colored paper, glue, markers and string lights.

Atlanta Falcons Home Opener

Neighborhood: Downtown

The Falcons may have had a lackluster opening during last weekend’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, but the team will be heading to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday for their home opener. With an evening game, downtown Atlanta is sure to be electric throughout the day as fans tailgate and prepare to (hopefully) root the Falcons on to victory.
